Weightlifting for Women – Are You Doing it Right?
Since I have started my new weight training and HIIT workout, I have been doing more and more research on the subject. It’s becoming clear to me just how much I have been missing out on. I think it is ridiculous, the amount of misinformation that is floating around out there about weight loss and exercise, especially the things directed toward women. It’s really no wonder so many women struggle with getting the body they want – hardly anyone tells us how to do it correctly.
I have found the next treat that I am going to buy myself once I scrape together an extra $40… (Warning: Impending affiliate link!
—>) The “Beautiful Badass” program is the latest in my “wow, I wish I had read that two years ago!” arsenal of things that I think will make the difference between becoming, well, a beautiful badass, to put it bluntly, or staying stuck here as a flabby cardio monkey for all time. In all honesty, I think it was this “Lift Like a Girl” post by the creator, Nia Shanks, that really tipped the scales for me in favor of buying this product.
I have known for quite some time that women need to lift heavy and not be afraid of training “like a man” to really get great results from fitness, but somehow this program seems to bring it all together in a way I have never seen it directed toward women before, in a very no-nonsense kind of way. Even if you don’t end up buying anything, I highly recommend you check out her website – in particular, read a few of her blog posts – it’s really very empowering.
The program itself, if you choose to buy it, goes into much more detail about specific workouts, important nutritional information, and how to structure workouts. In fact, she says on her website that she has included enough programs to keep you busy for years without repeating anything (I am a little too excited about this, I think – I’m sooooo sick of programs that get repetitive and unbearably boring).
I think it’s a great idea how she insists that the best way to stick with the program and really get the results you want is to organize the fitness and nutrition around your life, instead of rearranging your life to meet your fitness and nutrition plan. I think this is something so many of us do, in a misguided attempt to throw ourselves completely into a program and really get the maximum effect, we forget that this isn’t sustainable at all – when we get burned out or “too busy” in a week or two, we go back to our old ways, not to mention our fat jeans, like nothing ever happened.
I am super excited to buy this program soon, because I can tell just from reading reviews and her website that it is going to be worth it. If you’re with me on that, you can click on the affiliate link I posted above to purchase the Beautiful Badass program. Once I have gotten it for myself, I will do a detailed review of it like I did for Insanity.
